Barbara M. Robinson age 86 left the arms of her husband, Dale, to enter the arms of God on Friday, August 20, 2010. Barbara was born in Marion on January 13, 1924, to Omar and Marie Goodrich.

She graduated from Harding High School in 1942 and worked at Gallager Drug in downtown Marion to save for tuition for nurse's training. She graduated from Bethesda Hospital School of Nursing in Cincinnati in 1946 and began her lifetime nursing career as an RN at the old Marion General Hospital. Barbara later worked for Dr. Boxwell and Dr. Dan Murphy, but eventually returned to work at the new Marion General Hospital's Emergency Department. In 1982, Barbara left the hospital to work for Dr. Vernon Nichols. She retired in 1986 after a 40 year nursing career.

Barbara met her husband, Dale Robinson, in 1946 after he returned from the Navy, and they married on October 25, 1947. They were happily married for 62 years, 9 months, and 25 days. Barbara and her husband Dale enjoyed camping, fishing and time with family and friends. She loved road trips in the RV and she and Dale travelled extensively in the US and Canada. Both Barbara and Dale were active members of the Prospect Street United Methodist Church. They enjoyed singing in the choir and were members of the bell choir for several years.

Barbara's dughter, Deborah Robinson, preceded her in death in 2006. She is survived by her sons Gregory and wife Debra of Galena, Randy and wife Marnee of Marion, grandchildren, Jason Robinson of Pickerington, Corey Robinson and wife Lisa of Howard, OH., Heather Smith and husband Dr. Jason Smith of Louisville, KY., Megan Robinson of Westerville, and great grandchildren Grace and Nathaniel Smith and Kaitlyn Zacharias.

Visitation for Barbara will be held Monday, August 23, 2010 from 10:30 to 11:30 AM at the Prospect Street United Methodist Church, 185 S. Prospect St. The funeral service will follow at 11:30 AM at the church with Pastor Nancy Goulet  officiating, Burial will follow at Grand Prairie Cemetery.
In Lieu of Flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Prospect Street Unithed Methodist Churh Wesley Scholarship Fund. Arrangements are being handled by the Boyd-Born Funeral Home.

    Dear Dale and Family,
    Barbara was one of the finest nurses  who touched the lives of so many, including my own. She influenced my decision to become a registered nurse.  My deepest sympathies on your loss.  May the Lord watch over  you and your family during this difficult time.
