Rose (Lofano) Gribble, “our beloved Nanny,” age 88, of Urbana, formerly of Marion, passed away Monday afternoon, August 9, 2010 at the Gables of Green Pastures, Marysville Ohio.  She was born July 8, 1922 in Akron, Ohio, to Onofrio and Maria (Lamanna) Lofano.  She graduated from Garfield High School in Akron, Ohio.  Rose has two sisters, Irene Ferguson and Theresa Lofano of Akron.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Owen Gribble in 1999.  She is survived by three daughters, Justina Jones and husband Russell of Marysville, Ohio, Erma Reining and husband, Lee of Fort Meyers, Florida and Rebecca Hoffman and husband James of Urbana, Ohio.
Grandchildren are; Michelle Ruthig, Pam King, Mignon Lyons, Jackie McDonald, Paul Jones, Joey VanOver, Wesley Bright, Thomas (Brian) Bright, Heather Stearns,  Rosemary Bright, Mary Jones, Sunshine Reining; 28 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great- grandchildren.
In her youth, Rose and her parents traveled to Italy where she spent most of her childhood.  Rose enjoyed a career as a real estate agent, auctioneer, and antique dealer.  Rose and her husband Ernest operated “Colonel Rose’s Antique Store” out of their home on North Main Street in Marion, Ohio where they lived for 35 years.  Rose was a member of the National Auctioneer’s Association and the National Association of Realtors.  Rose was featured regularly in the Marion Star newspaper where she shared her knowledge by writing articles about antiques.  Rose was a budding artist in high school and painted for hobby, but her works were displayed in libraries in both America and Italy.
Private arrangements will be honored by the family.

    I remember Rose as I was going up and what a wonderful woman that she was. My heart goes out to all of the family. May Rose rest in peace. Mourn for the living and rejoice for the dead. My prayers are with you.

    this is my grandma nanny who was like a mother to me in so many ways ...... we shared so many life altering experiences those that i will never forget ..... i cant begin to tell you how many times she has gave me words of hope and encouragement when i was going through some serious life diffiulties that was thown my direction ..... she was truly a woman of many talents and who was loved by so  many also respected by many of those she came accross in passing ..... nanny was always a go getter in life and knew what she wanted and achived it as well ..... a woman with such a heart of gold and always showed others that there is a wonderful world out there and always had a shoulder for those who needed it rather it be to comfort them or for enjoyment of love ...... god truly has a special angel out there for me and others and her name to others was rose gribble but to me it will always be nanny !!!! i live love and miss you so very much but i know you are happy in heaven now with the love of your life my grandpa and your husband ernest gribble !!! love you both !!!! and to the rest of the family hold on to the memories and know nanny and grandpa will always be watching over us all ...... god only crys for the living cause were to far from home !!!! love you all my thoughts are with you
