John Angelo Maniaci


John Angelo Maniaci passed away July 5, 2010 at Riverside Methodist Hospital at the age of 70. He was born on April 16, 1940 in Marion to the late Anthony John and Eleanor Marie (Caserta) Maniaci. On April 22, 1999 on Bellefontaine Island at Indian Lake he married Sheila Borham.
John was a United States Army Veteran. He graduated in 1958 with the first graduating class of Marion Catholic High School. He was the owner of J. Angelo’s in Waldo. He had previously worked for Erie Railroad, and also for Plaza Dealership of Delaware where he met his wife Sheila. John was a past Marion City Council Member, and was a member of Emanuel Lutheran Church, the Moose Lodge, the American Legion Post 605 in Waldo, and was a lifetime member of the Amvets. John loved to cook and enjoyed entertaining others with his great sense of humor.
John is survived by his wife Sheila of Marengo; two daughters, Eleanor L. Maniaci, and Angela M. (Petie) Koeppel both of Marion; seven grandchildren; two sisters, Dorothy L. Howarth of Trenton, Michigan, and Barbara Jean Maniaci S.C. of Cincinnati, Ohio; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Nicholas E. Maniaci; and brother-in-law, Harry Howarth.
A memorial service will be held Friday, July 9, 2010 at 2:30 PM at Good Faith Baptist Church, 706 E. Mark Street, Marion, Ohio. A meal following the service will be held the K-D Hall, 1245 N. Main Street, Marion, Ohio, where the family will visit with loved ones and friends. Burial will be at a later date in Fulton Cemetery.

    I  lived  in  Waldo  from  1999-2005  and  frequented  J  Angelos.    John  was  always  very  welcoming  and  kind.    I  was  sad  to  hear  of  his  passing.    My  condolences  to  the  family.
